In late June 2024, we were contacted by the church warden, asking if we would be interested in restoring or replacing the existing notice board in the churchyard of St Michaels, in Aylsham. We were delighted to be asked to look at this and agreed to meet to assess the work involved.

Fortunately, we weren’t looking at a complete replacement, but the doors and back board definitely needed to be replaced. Most of the woodwork structure is made of oak and there are some fairly intricate carvings which decorate the upper timbers.

The new door/window frames needed some specialised work and our lady cabinet maker member took on this work. The finished notice board looked so much better and it has been given a new lease of life, having had new wood treatment applied.

This was a most enjoyable, and social project which showed the passing community what we are about and what we can achieve.
