News from the Chair
Christmas tree
We are busy in the Shed making decorations for the Christmas tree that will be in Aylsham Parish Church. The Church is raising money for local good causes and we are one. We hope to decorate our tree from 5.30pm to 6.30pm on Wednesday 22nd November. There is a Preview on Thursday 23rd and it will be on display Friday 24th to Tuesday 28th November. Food and coffee/tea will be available for visitors and it is hoped that all visitors will make donations. Come along and help, or come along and see what everyone has done if you can. We are hoping that the tree will then go to Blickling Church after this.
Good News at the Co-op
We have been selected as one of very few good causes which the local Co-op retail service have sponsored. We are urging all members to sign up for a Co-op card, to use it when making purchases and to benefit from discounts. Each time the card is used it helps to build up a donation the Co-op will pass on to us in a year’s time. We are proud to have been selected and hope everyone will pass the word around!
Members’ talks
Members have asked if they can have some twenty minute talks at the Shed on a Saturday. Starting in January we aim to have a slot which is of interest to Shed users. Please let us have any ideas of what interests you and what you’d like to hear about. Topics suggested have been ‘sharpening tools’, prostate cancer, making garden furniture. Just drop a line to secretary@aylshamcommunityshed.org and we’ll see what we can do.
Has anyone got a small cupboard?
We are in need of a small and (preferably) lockable cupboard to use as our COSHH cupboard to store inflammable items in. Any condition: we will restore it, and paint it yellow! If you can donate such a thing do let us know!
Breakfast, anyone?
Our WhatsApp group
Derek has started a breakfast meet up for Shed members. Let us know if you would like an invite and we’ll join you up. We have been meeting at the Whistlestop Cafe at Bure Valley Railway. There’s a chance to discuss projects and share ideas over breakfast. We now have a WhatsApp group for members. If anyone isn’t in our group you’re missing out! Let us know your preferred mobile number and we’ll join you to the group.
Our Annual Meeting
On Saturday February 3rd we will be having our first annual general meeting. All members are invited to the Shed for 9:30am. Put the date in your diary!
Yours in the Shed,
